When was the last time you went to a museum? Watched a concert? Read some poetry? The great thing about art in all its forms is that it makes us take time out from our busy lives and can take us to a place of peace and relaxation.

Aplaceforinspiration

For me, music is a very important source of inspiration. I seek out new free music all the time, and love going to see live concerts when I can. Sometimes the best way for me to relax is to play on my guitar or violin – it helps me to get through the day and de-stress from the tough times. It’s also a great way to generate ideas for my satisfaction journals and to get inspiration to write my own poems or other writing.

Aplaceforcontemplation

Every month, I go to a Downtown art event and look at new works of visual art that are made by local artists. It’s a great event that exposes me to new ways of expression and makes me take more than just a passing glance at art like most of us would do. On a trip to London many years ago, I went to the Tate Museum and just ended up sitting on one of the benches looking at these large, beautiful canvases of art. It was a neat lesson in paying attention, and not just with art – in life as well!

The super thing about being an arts lover is that any kind of expression can be interpreted differently by different people. We all take away diverse conclusions from what we see and hear. Try heading to a local gallery or museum and take your time looking at the visuals there. Check out your local ballet and appreciate the training and technical prowess of the dancers. Listen to some of your favorite music and let it take you to a wonderful memory. Most of all, take your time!
