When my budget is thin and the local grocery store seems too daunting, I head to the dollar store – which, oddly enough, is 4 doors down from the usual grocery store I go to. Trust me on this – you’ll be surprised by what you’ll find at a fraction of the cost at the regular store. With an idea of what you’re looking for, you can find some great deals! But like the big mart “kitchen sinks” where there is so much for so little, just make sure you don’t go down the drain!

Get Crafty
You know what I found a lot of at the dollar store? Scrapbooking and other arts and crafts materials. With most of the stock in dollar stores being leftovers from big grocery stores, it’s easy to go in and mix and match materials for your next homemade gift – and it’s a great place to get some ideas, too!

Stock Up On Supplies
Whether it’s for your home office, back-to-school, or any time of year, the dollar store is the place to go to stock up on pens, pencils, paper, glue, and other supplies for a low price. Kids are always in need of school supplies – and the dollar store is always chock full of everything at a fraction of the price. And it’s not just school supplies, either – they always have an abundance of cleaning supplies as well. I tend to clean with vinegar, and they always have it in stock!

Good Deals, Same Quality
Just because it’s not the grocery store doesn’t mean it’s not as good or as useful. In fact, I find some of the same brands of products in the dollar store for ridiculously good prices. Sometimes when I have to cook with canned goods, I look in the dollar store first, and I find a few of the same labels! Toiletries are also at low prices as well.
